I had a blood boiling experience just a couple hours ago, I was caught by RTA Officers crossing the road  from Rush Inn Hotel bus stop going  to York International bus stop. Okay fine, it was my fault. I understand anyone at any country in the world should not disrespect and offend traffic laws and regulations by crossing the undesignated spot. It was last year when I heard that a friend of a friend was caught jaywalking in bank street. And now that I myself experience being caught jaywalking, my newly issued Emirates ID card was confiscated in exchange of a receipt of fines. The Officer told me that I should bring the receipt at the RTA Traffic Department Al Barsha Branch to claim my ID. I don't know how much to pay since the receipt is written in Arabic but while passing to Shoe Mart hubby's cousin told me I will pay AED 210 (Php 2500+) coz her co-worker just paid the same amount to RTD while claiming her labor card last week.

But what made me so furious about it was... I have to claim my ID at Al Barsha Branch which is 30 kilometers from where we stay. So if I would be taking a cab going there it will cost me around AED 50....and I will be very late for my work. I asked them if they can forward it at the Al Ghusais Branch so it won't take me long going there just to pay for the fine and claim it.

With this experience, it will be a lesson for me not to cross to any undesignated spot. Honestly since I came here 5 years ago I've been doing the same thing....jaywalking...hehehehe. Traffic laws before does not include jaywalkers as far as I know...maybe because they don't need money before...but not now... where they are making money out of the people living here. I'm not against of anything that they imposed and I always have to abide with the law but that was just a mere opinion or observation.

As couples, we do have an experience like this when we we're still dating. I think that was 7 years back, we planned to watch a movie in Cubao...from Monumento we took a bus with a signage of Cubao Ibabaw hoping to get down there but when were almost near to where we want to get down the driver took the lane going to Cubao Ilalim. Hubby complained to the conductor that we asked him many times if they're passing to Cubao Ibabaw and he said yes so we are expecting they will drop us to Cubao Ibabaw. So then, what the driver did he stop the bus just before he drive to Cubao Ilalim, and right on the place where we get down the police were stationed. Voila!!!! Huli Kau!!!  Buti na lang nadadala sa pakiusap ang mga pulis sa Pinas....not like here..

Sa al barsha ba talaga magbayad? My friend was caught. Kaya lang we have no time to pay kasi may work. We are living in Karama. Any other way to pay it?

@Joan,

I am no longer aware about the rate of jaywalking fine at this time... it might still be the same or probably increase already.
