Wanna taste a home cooked Filipino meal? I bet every Filipino's abroad yearn for the real taste of home cooked Filipino meal. With that Filipino’s here in Dubai is thankful to ETA-Star Retail Group and Ongpauco for bringing Barrio Fiesta with their mouth watering cuisines from the Philippines. 2 ½ months after opening, I and hubby got the chance to visit Barrio Fiesta at the New Burjuman Center last Thursday night. It was not on the plan but I just thought of dining out coz I was so tired from an extended working hours and seems that I can no longer prepare for our meal that night. Most of the time we prefer to eat at the Old Burjuman Center food court where we used to order from the Chinese Restaurant but that day I thought of trying the food from Barrio Fiesta.

Well, I was attracted with the design of the restaurant; the authentic materials and decoration which I guess the owner have ordered it from the Philippines and the main arch is made entirely from pearl.

The restaurant is full when we arrived so we waited for some minutes and when one table was vacated the crew instructed us to occupy it and we were given a menu. So hubby ordered for nilagang bulalo and inihaw na hamour with rice. No starter anymore, I was starving since noon time and I want solid food to fill my empty stomach right away. The food was great esp the grilled hamour. Thought of coming back there to try "kare kare"...

When was the first time I prepared him a breakfast in bed? Hmmmmm…that was during my first vacation in the Philippines where I tried so hard to please him with the food I prepared. I didn’t know how to cook before so everyday I have to make a great effort to prepare something that he would like.

Here comes in Dubai….Great thanks to all my roommates & flatmates who have taught me to cook, somehow I’m too confident enough that every meal I will prepare for him, he will surely like. In our previous flat, most of the times we had breakfast, lunch and dinner in our room while watching a television…so breakfast in bed was something usual for us.

Then when we moved to another flat with a bigger space last year we didn’t take our meals in our room anymore but it’s either on the dining table or living room whichever is available since we have our flatmates sharing with us.

I've mention the first time, wanna know the last time?...hehehe Well, that was on Valentine's Day! Since he was working night shift last week i thought of preparing his breakfast in bed with the Valentine's Card. So i woke up early, prepared a grilled salmon and buttered mix vegetable with rice and apple and his favorite 3&1 coffee which i put in our bed. We had a fight the day before Valentine's day so i've asked my friend to ask him what was his reaction when he reached home and saw what i prepared for him. He said to my friend na "nakakataba ng puso...ang korni." I was glad that he liked it.

With the thought of Rab’s enjoyable vacation here in Dubai Che has booked all Thursdays and Fridays for.....

A night at the bar - The Music Room, Majestic Hotel Tower

Che & I enjoyed the Smirnoff Icebut Rolly & Hubby didn't like the taste of Foster...somehow the old rock music entertained us...it think it was just the old britons who fully enjoyed the 80's music...hehehe

A day at the beach - Jumeirah Beach Park

Advance celebration of Che's 30th birthday...Nadine and Lester came also...well, as usual hubby and rab i think enjoyed looking at those sexy ladies with their two piece swim wear..

Another night at the most popular outdoor cultural entertainment and shopping venue - Global Village

Hubby was working night shift so he wasn't able to come with us....again we roamed around every countries booth...
Another day and night at an Arabian-inspired resort - Madinat Jumeirah Hotel

We had a picture taking near the gate of Burj Al Arab and at the entrance of Wild Wadi water park.
Then headed to where we planned to go...at the Madinat Hotel

Again we roam around the blurky shops then later find some restaurant where we can eat but then we didn't find so i suggested to take dinner at the cafeteria near the fish port.

It was endeed a busy weeks for all of us....Thanks Rab and Che!!! I hope Rab really enjoyed his stay here ....
This was the greetings posted on the wall of Ponderosa Restaurant where we celebrated the Valentine's Day.

I have posted it on my other blog that maybe we don't have a date on Valentine's Day. But after that little suprise (i will post about it on the next Couple's Corner meme) which i think made my hubby realized that we really have to go out and celebrate the day of love. He decided not to go to work that night and be with us (Me, Ate Norie and Mane) at Ponderosa Restaurant which we planned the day before Valentine's Day without him.

So here's our valentine's photo....we we're forced to do that hehehehe..

And here we are.....a group Valentine's Date...

The food was great but then i did not enjoy the dinner coz i had a gas pain till we go home...huhuhu but anyway we'll try to go back there some other day....

I was blog hopping today when I learn that Pehpot is holding a contest for a Free Movie Date and i thought of joining.

I have had few memories at Walter Mart way back my teenage days in Balibago, Sta. Rosa, Laguna but it’s not about a MOVIE DATE or a FREE WIFI inside the mall. Before, there were no amenities like such on that mall. I don’t know if they have it now.

So now let me share you some unforgettable moments I have on that mall.

At WalterMart, me and my teenage crush bought flowers and chocolates for his girlfriend on Valentine’s Day or on any other special day. Imagine how I simply managed to chose the most beautiful bouquet of red roses and the best almond chocolates while wishing he will give it to me instead of giving it to his girlfriend.

At WalterMart, I waited for his girlfriend for one hour and accompanied her for another one hour while waiting for him to come since he had overtime.

By the way, He…was my co worker, my bestfriend, my crush turned first love. I look at him as my big brother and I was a little young sister for him that’s why until I leave that company I wasn’t able to tell him that he was not just a friend or a brother…….

In case I win this contest, 2 movie passes will go to the couple who became really close to my heart through blogging. It will be my Valentine's reward for them for being the best Daddy and Mommy for their toddler despite their busy work.

Good Luck to me...

Valentine’s Day is a celebration of love and affection between couples and it’s the day we expect to be really romantic. But for some, like my husband, Valentine’s Day is just an ordinary day. He’s not a type of person who will take you out on a date or give you nice presents on that day. But it's okay...i love him and will always love him for what he is and what he is not...

Last year was our first Valentine together as a couple; we didn’t celebrate it as what others do. We both have work that day, after office hours I attended a birthday celebration of a friend at the Twin Tower and when I came home he wasn’t there anymore coz he’s working on a night shift. We have had a fight the day before Valentine’s Day so it’s one of the reason why we didn’t even planned for a dinner date but even if I was so mad at him I still gave him a red heart shape small pillow as a simple presents.

And now again we’re both working on Sunday, he’ll be working on a night shift and maybe he won’t be there again when I go home. So we don’t really have a plan for Valentine’s Day, maybe if he’s working on a dayshift we can join our friend who will be celebrating her birthday together with her soon to be husband and friends on a Dhow Cruise dinner.

But anyway let’s see what I can do....

Papaitan or pinapaitan is a stew of goat or ox tripes and innards flavored with bile and sampalok or siling labuyo. It derives its name from "pait" meaning bitter. It is most popular among Ilocanos, who are well-known for maximizing possible food sources for their cuisine, including innards.

I don't know what made hubby decided to have dinner outside yesterday. As far as everything is concern we try not spending so much on anything now a day’s coz we’re really on a tight budget. After not having received my salary on time we we’re on trouble for not paying the rent and my credit cards on time also. We couldn’t even enjoy the Dubai Shopping Festival….

Before we used to eat at Agemono but since we don’t have enough money for expensive restaurant we then ate at Kape Korner. He ordered for papaitan, and barbeque served with rice and cola for our drinks. On his first taste of papaitan, he immediately commented that it was not so tasty compared to what Ate Norie usually prepare for us every time we go to their place.

So i guess it's time for me to learn how to cook papaitan so we don't need to dine out whenever hubby wanted it.

This song made my day hehehe. I was tag with my flatmate last Sunday and it's so timely for today's CC topic...

"We come to love not by finding a perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly." Sam Keen

He might be the opposite of what I wanted from a husband but I love him for being so and will always love him till my last breath... I love him so dearly for what he is and what he is not.

He maybe the most jealous and possessive husband in the world but I love him because I was his only girl/lady/woman he has dated and loved.

He may not understand me esp. when it comes to family matters but I love him because he sticks on me even if I hate his family.

He maybe sarcastic most of the time which tends to gets my blood boils but I love him because he knows how to tame a hardheaded like me.

He may not be sweet or caring but I love him because he loves me in his own unique way.

We attended Ate Joy's birthday which was held at 365 Restaurant in Satwa Dubai. I forgot but it was too late to remember that every time she celebrates her birthday her church mate usually prepare a little worship. We were the last one who came and all guests are well dressed but hubby and i was looking like were going to the market...hehehe! Anyway, it's our presence that counts.

"Eat and run" Hehehe! Beforehand Ate Norie has informed the celebrant that we'll not stay long coz we have a visitor who came from Saudi. So after the worship we ate a little and leave.

When we reached Tatay's place we ate again. Ate Norie prepared ginataang hipon at alimango, papaitan (as requested by Chie), fried fish and chicken biryani. When everybody was full, Hubby and Rab had their first toast of vodka and Joni, Manel, Chie and Ate Norie carry on singing their chosen songs on a videoke installed in a laptop while Jovi and I were simply watching them. Few minutes after we joined them dancing and singing. Can't imagine how that small receiving area serves as our dance floor hehehe..

Late night we had our little walk at the break water in Jumeirah Open Beach.
